Setting Free Shipping

Sellers who offer Free Standard Shipping items see a 1.88x lift in revenue. Sellers are able to set free shipping for their items within their item feeds in several ways. Check out each of the below methods for detailed instructions.

Bulk Template

In this method, you download an Excel template, update the items you want to have free shipping for, and then upload the Excel again. It is the quickest way to update multiple items at the same time.

Step-by-step instructions
1) Log into the Seller Portal
2) Navigate to Products, select Bulk Pricing and click on Bulk
3) Select either a specific item class or select the top node to download your entire catalog
4) Click the Download Pricing Template button.  An Excel file called itemPricing.xlsx will download
5) Open the Excel file

Note: Read the ‘Data Definition’ tab to familiarize yourself with each of the field’s requirements.

Simple steps to update the template:
1. Place a zero in the ‘Shipping Override’ field
2. Optionally: add a ‘Free Shipping Start Date’ and ‘Free Shipping End Date’ in the future (if the free shipping offer is for a limited time)
3. Upload the file and check for errors

Note: If you had errors, correct the errors and re-upload the file.

Shipping Rates

Using this method, you may set your account level settings to provide free shipping on all items or on orders when they meet a specific threshold (weight or cost).

Note: Only the primary user of your account must do this.

Step-by-step instructions
1) Log into the Seller Portal
2) Click on the name in the upper right hand corner
3) Click on “Shipping Rates”
4) Under step “1 – Select the rates you want to use” select either “Customize Shipping Rates by Weight” or “Customize Shipping Rates by Order Amount”

To set up free shipping for all orders, you may use either the weight based or the order amount based options.

5) In the “mailable” section, set the Ground rate to “0”

6) Click the “update” button

Item by Item

Using this method, you may edit one item at a time via the Seller Portal user interface. This is useful when you need to make a quick edit for one specific item.

Step-by-step instructions
1) Log into the Seller Portal
2) Browse to Products > Product Mgmt > Browse & Edit
3) Either browse for the product or search for the product
4) Once you find the product you want to edit, click the item to edit
5) Go to the “offers” or “Variants” tab
6) On this page, scroll down to the “Shipping Details” section
7) Check the box next to Free Shipping and add the From and To dates. These dates are required

8) Scroll to the top or bottom of the page and click the “Update” button to save the item

Deals & Promos

Using this method, you may set promotional free shipping offers to specific item classes or brands. If you want to set free shipping for your entire catalog, it would be easier to use the “Shipping Rates” option.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Log into the Seller Portal
  2. Browse to Seller Tools > Deals & Promos
  3. Click the Orange “Create Deal” button
  4. Populate the “External Deal Id” (this is required). This is a unique name for the deal you make up.
  5. Change the “Deal Type” to “Shipping”
  6. Populate the Start Date and End Date (this is required)
  7. Enter a short description of the deal
  8. Expand the “Rules” section
  9. Populate the “Minimum Purchase Value”. For this example, we are setting up free shipping for all items, so enter “1”
  10. Populate the “Discount Value” to be 100
  11. Expand the “Inclusion Criteria”
  12. Click the Select button next to the Item Classes or Brands row
  13. Select the brands or item classes that you desire to include. Notice as you add item classes or brands, the Projected item count in the upper right corner increases
